Site Grading & Prep

Commercial Site Grading Built for Wyoming Ground

Cut-and-fill, rough grading, finish grading, and subgrade compaction for commercial construction sites across northeast Wyoming.

What We Do

Grading and Site Prep for Commercial Construction

G&G Landscape handles the dirt work that sets the foundation for everything built on top of it. We perform cut-and-fill operations, rough and finish grading, subgrade compaction, and drainage preparation for commercial projects in Gillette, Sheridan, Buffalo, Casper, Douglas, Sundance, and Spearfish.

Whether the project is a retail pad, an industrial yard, a municipal facility, or a multi-lot subdivision, we move material to spec and compact to density requirements. Our crews work directly with general contractors and project managers to stay on schedule and keep downstream trades on track.

Proper grading eliminates costly rework. We establish positive drainage, meet engineered elevation plans, and verify compaction before handing the site off. That means fewer change orders, fewer delays, and a subgrade your concrete and paving crews can count on.

Our Process

How a Grading Project Moves Forward

From initial survey to final grade, every step is documented and coordinated with your project team.

  1. Survey & Assessment

We review the site plans, walk the property, and evaluate existing conditions including soil type, drainage patterns, and access points. If a topo survey is needed, we coordinate that before mobilization.

  2. Mobilization

Equipment and crew are staged on-site. We confirm erosion control measures, establish benchmarks, and verify haul routes. The GC gets a mobilization schedule before we roll.

  3. Cut-and-Fill Operations

Material is moved to achieve the designed elevations. We balance cut and fill volumes on-site when possible to reduce hauling costs. Excess material is exported, and import material is brought in as needed.

  4. Compaction & Testing

Subgrade is compacted in lifts to meet specified density requirements. We coordinate with third-party testing labs to verify Proctor values and document results for the project record.

  5. Final Grade

Finish grading brings the surface to plan elevations with proper slope and drainage flow. The site is ready for concrete, paving, utilities, or landscape installation.

FAQ

Common Questions About Site Grading

What types of projects do you grade?

Commercial retail pads, industrial yards, parking lots, municipal sites, multi-family developments, and subdivision lots. We also handle pad sites for energy and mining operations across the Powder River Basin. If it needs dirt moved to spec, we do it.

What equipment do you run?

Our fleet includes dozers, scrapers, excavators, motor graders, and compaction rollers sized for commercial-scale earthwork. Equipment selection depends on the project scope, soil conditions, and site access. We bring what the job requires.

How long does a typical grading project take?

Timelines depend on acreage, cut-and-fill volumes, soil conditions, and weather. A straightforward commercial pad might take one to two weeks. Larger multi-phase sites run longer. We provide a detailed schedule during estimating so your project plan stays accurate.

Do you coordinate directly with general contractors?

Yes. We work as a subcontractor on most commercial projects and are used to fitting into a GC's schedule. We attend pre-construction meetings, provide daily progress updates, and coordinate directly with other trades on-site.
